Electrical Design Workshop

Electrical Design Workshop is to impart knowledge with skills in the discipline of electrical designing to develop safe and dependable processing facilities in a cost effective manner for a industry. Heavy power industries equipped with turbo generators, boilers, turbines, transformers, switchgears and other allied items.  Most of the plants such as power generation projects, petrochemical, refineries , chemical plants, integrated steel plants, non-ferrous metal units, etc needs proper design and engineering of electrical system. This workshop is to get familiar with the required skills while on the job, to enhance productivity and efficiency.


Can access computer system and make use of internet to perform search over Google.

Need to Prepare?

Prior programming experience is not required and basics of electrical engineering would be appreciated.

Tools Expected:-

Windows OS based PC, Smart phone with Internet, Notebook and Pen

Tools Provided (for the session):-

E-CAD software, Reference Materials, PPTs, Example sets and Study Materials


E-CAD, SLD, Different Schematics, Load Schedule etc.


This workshop will focused over basic knowledge and skills of electrical designing, prototyping and schematics fundamentals  to facilitate faster learning curves while on the job.

2 Days (7 hours each including 1-hour lunch break)


Day 1

Basics of Electrical Design Engineering & Load Estimation
  • Concept of EPC Projects
  • Fundamentals of Power Generation, Transmission, distribution & utilization.
  • Introduction of key electrical equipments used in projects.
  • Overview of Codes & Standards IEC/ANSI/IEEE.
  • Introduction of P&ID
  • Preparation of Load Schedule.
  • Determination of Power Supply Capacity.
  • Standby Capacity Consideration
  • Rating of Motors in relation to their Driven Machine.


Session 2- (02:30 hrs)
Single Line Diagrams & Control Schematics
  • Introduction to Single Line Diagram Design & Development of –
    •  Key SLD
    •  Detail SLD
    • Lighting System SLD
    • Small Power SLD
  • Metering & Control Diagram
  • Introduction to Control Schematics
  • Block Diagram
  • Typical Schematic of Motor Feeder
  • Typical Schematics of Power Feeder
  • Typical Schematics of Transformer Feeder
  • Preparing Excel Sheet & Calculations
